Hey everyone. Please be aware that we are NOT going tubing tonight at Whitetail. The weather is supposed to be really crummy with rain and ice. We don’t want anyone trying to be like the “Ice Road Truckers” and end up in a ditch in PA making their way to a church event. So, stay in and play some games with mom and dad at home.

Sunday was confirmation Sunday and we welcomed 25 new students into our church!! Congrats to all of you and the 5 confirmands that were baptized on Sunday as well!

Then, we had FUEL worship where we kicked-off our new teaching series: “Awakening”. I learned that some of you can sleep for an incredible amount of time! Chris talked about what it means to be a sleepy christian, letting our faith lay dormant in the back of our minds. He then shared how powerful things can happen if we make our faith a priority and  allow it serve as a guide to our lives.

This week we have LOTS going on. We will be meeting for regular youth group this week. Also, the 2011 baccalaureate service is THIS Sunday. Baccalaureate is a service held at Middletown High School to bless the graduating seniors. It begins at 7 p.m. in the MHS auditorium. Quite a few people from our church are involved, so come on out and send your blessings to our seniors!

Hey there!
Last weekend we had an awesome time at our FUEL worship service as we dived into some scripture and discussed the Easter story! We talked about Easter eggs and how we as Christians believe that they are the “seed of life” and symbolize the resurrection of Jesus.We talked about how the disciples, who dropped everything they had to follow Jesus for years, must have felt when they found out he was going to be sent to death.

Then we took slips of paper and had some time for reflection where we wrote down how we are surprised by God at Easter each year, and how we can take the good news from the Easter story and surprise others by sharing God’s outstanding love. We slipped the paper into eggs and used them as our offering for the evening.

Relay for Life is an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society that allows people to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember the lives of those who lost their battle, and to take a stand and fight against cancer. The Messiah Youth Workers Conference is coming up! This is a day-long conference at Messiah College for our high school student leaders and youth workers. There will be worship, keynote speakers, and break-out sessions for both youth and adults.  The break-out sessions are a great way to learn some helpful information to bring back and use in our youth ministry here at MUMC. We will be meeting at church early Saturday morning, and return later that night. This event is an awesome way to learn more about being a leader in our youth group and is always tons of fun! If you have any questions about the event talk to Chris or Mrs. Tice, or talk with someone who has been before.

We are gearing up to head to the 2011 Revolve Tour in Baltimore  at the 1st  Mariner Arena .  Revolve is a two-day girls only ( sorry guys!) conference packed with awesome worship music, inspiring messages , and wonderful drama that relates to issues teen girls face today. Come with us  to discover “The Truth About Guys” and for wonderful weekend full of lots of girl time! This year The Revolve Tour will be held on March 11-12th. We are planning on staying in a hotel near the venue and the cost will be about $100 per girl. Let us know by February 6th if you are interested in coming along we’d love  to have you join us!

At youth group we continued our teaching series on Film School with conversation about the movie “The Count of Monte Christo”.  We spoke about being wrongfully accused of something and the things that motivate our actions.  Will we let the desire for revenge drive us and consume us or will we allow God to work through us?

This week we are going to be finishing up the FILM SCHOOL series.  We will be talking about what kind of movie your life will be made into.  Do you think it would be a romance, actions, drama, thriller, or horror movie.  We will talk about ways that we can write the script of our lives.  We will also have a couple of fun surprises this week too.

Exciting News:  There have been a couple of really fun things going on already this week.  Carlee Lammers came on at the beginning of the term as an intern for MUMC and is going to be working on some really awesome projects.  On Monday I officially booked the laser tag rooms.  We are going to be going to shadowlands laser tag in the FSK mall.  I am super excited about it.  We are going on March 6th!!!!

Remember that on Super bowl Sunday there will be no youth group.  Stay home and enjoy the game.

4. I have been working for about a week now to try and figure out how to get a better way of managing our pictures.  I have a ton and need a better/safer way to post them so that we can have them available to you all.
