What Do You Want?

Hey everyone. For the past couple of days we have been gathering resources, and pulling materials to get the calendar shaped out for the coming school year.

We have a rough outline of the way that the year is going to shape out:

We are going to be doing the homeless for a night again this year (tough it will be earlier so it will not be 16 degrees with 6 inches of snow), we are going to do another scavenger hunt, the corn maze and much more.

But there is one thing that we are missing…

Some of your ideas. What are some of the things that you would like to see us do this year? If you would like to do a mystery dinner theater, a talent show, go to Norway and see the world’s largest paper clip (22 feet tall). Please let us know, talk it over with your friends and we will try and respond and work it in the calendar.

Do you know some one who is at workcamp right now????Well then send them a note and let them know they are doing a great job.

We have a group of 20 who have gone off to New Castle, PA to work on houses for a week. They will be painting and scraping, building and demolishing, cutting and nailing.

Our team is made up of Mel Bower, Nick Carter, Taylor Goodie, Carlee Lammers, Samantha Lilley, Casey Lindburg, Kaitlyn Matthai, Amanda Menke, Chrissy Payne, Marina Payne, Nathan Tice, Victoria Tice, Amber Watkins, Evan Wilson, Kristin Wilson, Ladd Bower, Beth Tice, John Tice, Cathy Watkins and Simon Frechette.

Bike Hike

This Sunday July 11th we are going biking. Meet up with us at 2:00pm on Sunday at the Brunswick MARC train parking lot for a ride to Harpers Ferry.
We will ride to the bridge (5 miles) and walk over to Harpers Ferry (West Virginia) and get some ice cream or other delicious treats and head on back. Bring your friends and parents. It will not be too long of a time in the sun but we can take some time to explore the town. It will be a great time.

Guys Game Night

Calling all Middle School and High School Guys!!!

This Wednesday beginning at 6:00 and going until 8:00 we are going to be having a game night at the Middletown Park (The one by the high school).

The plan is to meet up at the upper parking lot and then we will play a game of football, Frisbee or something super fun.

If you would like to attend please let me know so that I will have a rough idea about how many people are going to be there.

Can’t make it this week? That’s all right because we are going to be meeting up on July 21st, August 4th and August 18th.

Wear shoes like you would have in gym class and clothes that could get a bit dirty. Hope to see you there.

Bonfire

Come on out this weekend for some good ol’ fashion fun. We are going to be going to the Tice house for a bonfire. The fun will begin at 6:00 and go through about 8:00ish. Come and have a great time with us playing games having some treats I am sure.

If you are going into 6th grade this would be a great time to come and meet some of the youth group gang.

Summer Time

Its Summer time!!! Finally there will be a change of pace. This goes for our youth ministry too. We have moved to our summer schedule. This means that we will not have a weekly youth group like we have had when school is in session. We have special events and studies throughout the summer. We have tried to make a variety of offerings and hope that it will meet your needs.

We are trying this model for a couple of reasons this year. First, it gives our youth workers some time to relax. This allows us to recharge over the summer rather than plow through without a break. Secondly, with our programs such as workcamp, fish and summer camp we have a lot going on at different times rather than just on the weekends. Finally, it gives us a chance to do different things rather than be hooked into the 6:00-7:30 time slot on Sundays so come play with us over the summer.

Rock Out

Do you have big dreams about being a rock star. Are you great at making videos that you post on Facebook or You Tube? Do you have a great voice? Then do we have an opportunity for you. Well…even if you sing like someone is doing harm to cat, or our videos look like the Blair Witch Project, or you want to be a scuba diver then this is for you, too.

We want you to make your very own Music Video. You can sing it yourself or sync it up with music. You can use still images, video, claymation, animation, or another way to get your vision across. You can use any style of music that you would like, it doesn’t have to be exclusively Christian but it needs to be a song that we can view in church.

If you make a video send it to Chris at Chris@lifeforceyouth.com I will be screening all of the videos and then I hope to have a place to vote online for your favorite. The deadline to send them in is April 25th.

Life Hurts Study

We are beginning a new study called Life Hurts God Heals. This will take a look at the hurt in our lives and how we can live through it.

This is a study that branches off from our last teaching series and is aimed at addressing some of the things that bog us down. Come join us Mondays at 6

All In

We are kicking of a teaching series called Going All In. This is a study of the book of James. Throughout the book readers quickly get the understanding that James is aimed to be a very practical book. This is the hope of the teaching series too.

We are going to be talking about relationships, gossip, temptation, and the wise use of money.

I am excited about the series and hope it gives us some avenues of growth too. Along with the teaching we are going to have a ton of great games, a contest or two and perhaps even a chili cook off.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday March 27th we are going to be holding our annual Easter Hunt at MUMC. We will be having a time to present the Easter story, Hunting eggs for both younger and older kids, a brunch, and tons of fun. We are asking that you show up at 8am to help with the set up. We will need people to help with tables and chairs, hiding the eggs and a number of other things as well as cleaning up.

Toni, our family ministries coordinator is organizing this and you can contact her or send Chris an e-mail if you would like to help. It is always great if we know that you are coming to help. CONFIRMANDS you will be able to cont this time toward community service.

this is a great way to serve and have fun.
