We are going to have the opportunity to serve in a number of different areas as well as do some really fun stuff like going to the corn maze, Fuel Worship, helping kids at our annual Trunk-or-Treat and other great things.

Fall 2011 ministry catalog

September 9th ad 10th we are going to have our “school is staring and we don’t want to be back” retreat at camp Manidokan.  We will join with a number of other youth groups from around the area for a couple of days of fun, music, small groups, adventures and some great time to get to know each other.  I think that this is going to be a great way to get back in the groove of connecting with one another and to have a little break from the week and a half of school you will have already had.

Here are the vitals:

When/Where: Meet at MUMC on Friday September 9th @ 5:45pm (eat dinner before you come). We will then go to Manidokan We will be returning back to MUMC Saturday night LATE (like 11:00pm)

Cost: $50 per person.  This includes the cost of the event and food.  (if you would like to bring a little extra for band cd’s, other merch, ice cream and snacks you are welcome to do so)

What to bring:  You will need to bring your permission from filled out and signed by parents, Bible, sleeping bag (and if you would like an extra blanket), pillow,  toothbrush and tooth paste, towel,  old clothes (we are going to be outside), shower stuff,  bring a change of clothes that could get messy, bring shoes that you can hike in, PJ’s, Flash light and a water bottle.

We will also need some tents for the adventure if you have a large one that you woudl like to share.  Thanks

We need to you RSVP and have your $50 by September 1st.  If we don’t get it you may not have a spot. 

Typically the morning is filled with work and then we will go out and do something fun in the evening.  The program will end with worship in Middleotwn park with The GAthering worship service where students will have the chance to talk about the things that they have been doing the past couple of days.  Come and be part of the fun.

There are a few events that I really look forward too and that put a smile on my face when I book them.  This is one of them.

On Sunday March 6th we are going to be going to Shadowlands Adventures in the FSK mall to have a good ol’ shoot ‘em up time.  We are all going to meet at MUMC at 6:00 and travel to Shadowlands for a couple of games of laser tag.  The cost is $20 per person.  This will include 2 games, drinks, a picture of the group and an event room.

We will also need for you to fill out a permission form BEFORE we leave from church.  This way we can break the group up if need be and we will not spend all of our time figuring out who is going to be shooting who.

Drivers and adult participants are going to be needed.  So if you would like to drive/play let me know so that we can have you factored in.

Not doing anything on the 24th?  Come and worship with us on Christmas Eve.  We have a full day of services and worship offerings.  Come and celebrate the coming of Jesus with Middletown United Methodist and your friends and family.

The first two services are really fun because there are tons of kids and families that come together and help retell the nativity.  The 7:00 is our contemporary service, and 9:00 and 11:00 are the classic Christmas eve services.  The best part about 11:00 is that when you are finished church it will be Christmas day.

Our Youth ministry is going to be making a statement to our community by raising awareness at local businesses and throughout the community asking for food donations and spreading the word about the needs of so many in our own back yard.

We will be meeting at the church at 2:00 on Saturday November 6th and staying through the night outside.  The youth are encouraged to bring their own sleeping gear.  This could be in the form of a tent, box, tarp or other creative ways to fend off the elements for the night.  It WILL be cold so make sure you bring enough warm clothes and blankets.

We will be eating a simple meal of rice for dinner.  This will be a similar meal to what 2/3 of the world eats, we will hear a woman story of homelessness and the way she is overcoming that obstacle in her life.

This Wednesday beginning at 6:00 and going until 8:00 we are going to be having a game night at the Middletown Park (The one by the high school).

The plan is to meet up at the upper parking lot and then we will play a game of football, Frisbee or something super fun.

If you would like to attend please let me know so that I will have a rough idea about how many people are going to be there.

Can’t make it this week?  That’s all right because we are going to be meeting up on July 21st, August 4th and August 18th.

Wear shoes like you would have in gym class and clothes that could get a bit dirty.  Hope to see you there.
