Ignite: August 27, 2010
This past weekend at Youth group we had a great time getting saturated with some fun water games. This rounded our our series with the title “Saturate.” We have bee talking about the ways that we can be filled with God throughout our lives, even when we are going through times that would dry us out. One of the first ways we renew ourselves is through reading scripture. We encourages students to find some time and read and be in prayer.
We talked about what fills our hearts leads our lives. So if we fill our hearts with demeaning music (even when we are just listening to the beat and not the words), things will begin to saturate our hearts that we might not want in there. So time with God is one way we don’t just know with our minds what God has for us, but we also begin to fill our hearts with the great and wonderful plans God has for our lives.
This past week we talked about how we are on the journey of faith together and that we are supposed to walk along side one another and encourage one another. The mission of our ministry is to journey together (students and adults) toward deeper discipleship.” We know that our ministry and our church have to be a place where all feel welcomed. We challenged the students to think about real ways we can work on making this a place where anyone can come and be themselves.
The Coming weeks:
On August 29th we are inviting families to go to the Frederick Keys baseball game. There will be no evening youth group on this night because we want folks (our youth workers included) to have some time with their families. The game is at 2:00.
On September 5th and 6th- there will also be no evening youth group because we will be on retreat at Manidokin retreat center. We are asking that you drop your child off at 9:30 on Sunday and we will be back by 4:00 on Monday. What better way to take a break from school than at camp on labor day weekend.
Be God’s
