The REAL me?
This past weekend I got to go to the Revolve Tour in Philly with Victoria. We had a BLAST , there were some amazing speakers and singers there. The Revolve Tour also has a fabulous drama team. On both Friday and Saturday we got to see several skits from this awesome group. One of their skits focused on showing the world who you really are. Not just saying the things that make you “cool” or pretending your someone your really not. I learned something like that recently.
This is my very first year in high school. I was kinda nervous but mainly I was soooo EXCITED! All I had heard about was how fun it was and all the people you got to meet. I couldn’t wait, I wanted a ton of friends, and I thought it would be perfect. I’d have amazing friends, I’d have a great time in high school , and I’d have the perfect life. Well, I was kinda wrong on that. I wanted to fit in with so many people I started putting on a mask. The mask was who these people wanted me to be, this mask went over who I really was. It was hard there were so many people that I wanted attention from desperately and I wasn’t being me. Some of my best friends were starting to realize what I was doing and they didn’t like the mask I was putting on. But I didn’t care I wanted to just fit in, when in reality I already did.
Not only did I already fit in with my amazing friends, but I fit in with God. God doesn’t care what kind of clothes you wear, God doesn’t care if you have all the latest and most awesome things, God doesn’t care what your hobbies are. All God cares about is that you live out the life hes given you, and you glorify him doing it. God doesn’t want you to lie about who you are just to be cool, and he doesn’t want you to wear a mask. God wants you to just be you , the you he created.
It’s hard it really is, but you have to pray that God can give you the strength to do it. God knows how hard it is too, after all he did create you and he knows whats going on. That’s why the amazing part is that he wants to help you, he loves you for who you are, and God can accept you no matter what you look like, or what you own.
I learned that the best friends are the ones who like you for who you truly are, and God is one of them =)
